The Hog Charge 2025 was an unbelievable success, and a real feat of effort from all the Pembroke staff and pupils.
You can just imagine the battalions that went into organising the following…
112 children
117 bikes (we had some spares for just in caseys)
43 staff (not a bad ratio of children to staff!)
14 punctures
37 tents
930 chipolatas
8 trays of eggs
A gazillion chocolate brownies
3 bikes lost…. 3 bikes found
The anticipation….
The waiting……
Nerves rising…..
Excitement brewing….
Chat, chat, chat….
Yet more waiting……
THEN FINALLY IT WAS HOG CHARGE WEEKEND!!! WHOOP WHOOP!!!
Camping, swimming, repairing, labelling, assembling, pumping, squealing, laughing and then……..
WE WERE OFF!!! LET’S GO!!!
It was hot, it was gruelling, it was competitive, but it was AWESOME. You have to experience it at least once in your life and as we suspected the Pembroke Checkpoint was again unbeatable and we won again!! Yipeeeee!
One Pembroke pupil said: “This was my first time doing the Hog Charge and the only thing I would change is that I regret not doing it sooner!”
And another: “Oh my goodness what a weekend! One we shall ALWAYS remember. Thank you to our wonderful teachers for making it happen – we know it was a lot of work, but you made 112 children VERY happy!”
Every term we get a cohort of wonderful Gap Year pupils who join us to help with the children. This term we've had Lochie, Tom, Will, Liv, Jemima, Amelie, Onnee and Grace.
