Pembroke school trips are legendary; some highlights of the school calendar are adventures in the Maasai Mara, a camel safari in Laikipia and the Mt Kenya climb.
All our children have the opportunity to go on a form trip each year to fun and educational locations. The destinations can include the Maasai Mara, Bobong in Rumuruti, Naivasha, Ol Pejeta, Mt Kenya, Sagana and The Milgis in the north. Experiences are diverse and interesting, ranging from going on safari, white water rafting, learning about tracker dogs, camel riding, swimming in lakes, fishing and trekking. There is often a focus on conservation efforts and community enterprises, which Pembroke children are passionate about, and are so important to understand and promote in our world today.
After the Common Entrance exams are finished, our Year 8s have an extensive post-CE programme, which involves a huge array of activities that expose them to community projects, conservation work, adventure activities and much-needed relaxation.
In addition to trips outside of school, we also have camping evenings in the school forestry for every Year group from Years 1 – 8. These are always fun experiences for pupils, who enjoy night time games, sitting around the campfire and sharing a tent with friends.
Middles and Seniors take their bikes and follow an exhilarating trail around our local forest.
Year 7 camp in the school forestry, before heading to Malewa the next day to test their resilience and develop their teamwork skills on the aerial tree top assault course.
Our Year 8 children make a trip to represent Pembroke to the local war memorial on Remembrance Sunday.
Our Year 7 & 8 girls and boys teams have the opoprtunity to be selected to go on exciting international sports tours to the UK or South Africa, playing cricket or hockey, netball or rugby, depending on the sporting nature of the tour.
Year 8 tackle Mt. Kenya and parents are invited to join this formidable and exhilarating challenge.
Year 4 head off on safari to the Masai Mara. They visit a local manyatta village, have an up-close encounter with white rhino at the nearby sanctuary, go on game drives to identify different animals, meet children from a local Mara school and learn about conservation efforts in the area.
Our Prep school children can choose to join the French trip, enhancing their understanding of French language and culture.
Year 8 set off to Savage Wilderness for white water rafting on the Sagana River and experience a five day camel safari in Laikipia. This celebratory post-exam time is a right of passage for the Year 8s and an adventurous finale to their time at Pembroke.
Year 7 spend three days walking with and riding camels, cooking over a fire and camping by night.
Year 3 head to Laikipia to spend time with Samburu on safari.
