Community has always been at the heart of Pembroke House. Our school community itself is vibrant and supportive, and this enables us to reach out to our wider community, whether that is working with those in need in our immediate neighbourhood or supporting projects running further afield.

Both pupils and staff have run several litter picking sessions in and around Gilgil.
Many Pembroke staff and parents volunteer their time and expertise at our neighbouring Sure Start Centre, an orphanage for local children.
Carol singing followed by Christmas drinks is arranged at both the Gilgil Club and our school Christina Chapel, local residents are invited to join.
We run a series of musical workshops with Ghetto Classics Orchestra, a flagship community initiative that involves children from Korogocho, one of Nairobi’s largest slums.
We often invite children from local primary schools to come and watch our school productions in the Pembroke theatre.
We raise money for Rhino Ark by participating in the annual sponsored Hog Charge mountain bike race in Nairobi.
We arrange and host community fundraising events such as the annual Christmas Craft Fair, Shaggy Dog Show and Colour Run.
Pembroke arrange and host regular football coaching sessions for local youth groups.
Pembroke families and staff respond to emergency relief appeals such as the prolonged drought and food crisis with ad-hoc fundraising initiatives.
Beautiful locally produced beaded items, made by women's cooperatives, are promoted and sold through our onsite uniform shop.
