Here at Pembroke, we are so lucky that we have an enormous amount of space in which to work, play and relax. This week, the Year 7s took advantage of this. Their class novel this term is ‘Bridge to Terabithia’ by Katherine Paterson, and they have been investigating the language used to describe the magical world of Terabithia. They then imagined their own lands, gaining inspiration from our very own forestry. Working in the shade of (or indeed, in!) the trees, they depicted worlds of magical creatures and fearsome enemies created from their natural surroundings. They will be writing descriptions this week, incorporating an array of figurative language techniques, and we look forward to reading the finished products!
