Boats – Lent Term

Every half term, all Pembroke House children from Y1 to Y8 compete in a free-style swimming gala that is affectionately known as ‘Boats’.

With an electric atmosphere and pumping music, the children swim in class teams (boats) of four, grouped by ability. None of us quite understand the rules, but none of that seems to matter!

Mixed year groups swim against each other in each race, in a bid to move up the ‘league’ as the academic year goes by.  Heavy rain in the Michaelmas term meant a reschedule and an inaugural ‘Night Boats’ which added an extra element of twilight fun, as the swimmers strived for the much coveted ‘fish’ trophy.

Our recent Boats was as high-energy as always and 8 O Boat 1 proudly lifted the ‘fish’ as reigning champions for this year. But, all could change in the leader board as the children race again next time.
